As 2018 comes to an end, I wanted to choose my New Year resolution based on what is attainable and positive. I have decided it is my “follow-through”. In my heart and in my head I’ve had good ideas but I let my fears or negative energy get in the way. Now don’t get me wrong. I have completed projects and commitments in 2018. I expanded my platform sites and categories for my online selling business. I have added a part-time virtual assistant. I just want more.
First, I want to focus on better purchases with better investment returns so I can make my family business more profitable. Second, I want to follow-through on health goals. Third, I want to follow through with a specific and written out organization system.
For my first goal of a more profitable ROI, I know this sounds basic, but I need to change my mind-set. Before, my purchases were done to make a quick profit and thinking even a few dollars profit is fine. There’s nothing wrong with a few dollars here and there as they do add up, but if I want to expand and take on a full time VA, I need to think bigger. If I take more time evaluating my purchases, I can choose items that will sell at a higher margin, even if they are long tail items. It takes the same amount of time to source and list the items I want in my stores as it does to source and list the much smaller, less expensive items I’ve searched for in the past. I just need to think bigger.
Second is my health. I need more “me” time. I need to make my health a priority. I always say “I want to lose X number of pounds” but then tell myself I’m too tired after a long day or just keep putting it off and eating something quick and unhealthy. Well no more. 2019 will be me putting that part of my life at the forefront. Healthy body=healthy mind and this new mindset will leak out into other areas of my business if I have a healthier me in control.
Third thing for 2019 will be a new organizational system. Inventory clean-up to get rid of items that no longer fit my store goals or to get rid of items that just aren’t moving. I will be writing out what I have, what I need in terms of storage and sorting and filing stocked items for easier retrieval so that I spend less time searching for lost or misplaced items.
I really think all 3 of my 2019 goals are intertwined. Organizing will save me time. The extra time will go for my health and exercise. My healthier mind and body will be less tired and able to concentrate on increasing sales and keeping my store organized and in shape for quickly finding my stored items and shipping.
I say good-bye to 2018 and welcome 2019. This will be my year for organization of my mind, body and stores! Happy New Year!
