List, Sell, Rinse, Repeat
Everyone talks about analytics for resellers but most people can’t tell you about specifics. I’m no different. I can’t give magic words but I can tell you what helps. List, sell, rinse, repeat.
List. List daily. Even if it’s just a 3-5 items. Do this daily. Most resellers have a death pile and if you don’t, if you really want to be a reseller, you’ll get them. Those piles that seemed great but then you set them aside to work on something else that you felt needed your attention sooner so it piled. List it. If it’s not worth it, donate it. Decide what you want to do with it but ultimately you can’t sell it if you don’t list it. I didn’t invent the phrase, but the best advise to share is ALWAYS BE LISTING.
Sell. But do more than soft sell it. You’re competing against an enormous amount of resellers cropping up daily. Last information I’ve found says there are at least 4 million daily resellers selling on Poshmark. There are over 25 million resellers on eBay. This is not even including all the other platforms both long established and up and coming. These figures aren’t meant to discourage. It’s meant to remind you, your listings have to stand out. Better photos. Better descriptions. Do your research. You don’t have to reinvent the wheel but what you say about that wheel can make the difference and give you an edge.
Rinse. And not just in the literal sense. Although keep in mind a clean and presentable item will show buyers you care about your item and increase its value. Rinse also means a listing can go stale. Change it up a bit. New research for reprising, rewording or adding new pics. Either update your listing or end and relist. This will keep your listing from becoming stale and dropping in ranking.
Repeat. Repeat these steps daily. Whether you sell common items, collectibles or one-offs. Do what you need to do to make yourself stand out from the millions. You decide how much you want to grow. Just know there’s no getting around it. It takes work, but if you do it right, the rewards are worth the risk.
