I have to confess, my new obsession is selling vintage and designer lingerie. The reseller market is flooded with so many people selling outerwear. I enjoy finding a somewhat narrower market with a fun appeal. I’ve been able to find some really nice designer pieces from Oscar de la Renta and Christian Dior as well as some not so big-name designers that made quality pieces and took pride in their workmanship. My favorite is long flowy lingerie. Long lingerie brings to mind staying up late watching old movies with my mom and how the actresses would just slink into the room and bring all eyes on her. The lingerie was loose enough to keep the censors at bay but clingy enough to let you know they were still beautiful leading ladies.
Whether silk, satin or polyester, cotton or blends, most nightwear can make you feel attractive regardless of your size. They are able to highlight the right places and gloss over areas you might want to bring less attention to.
Lingerie can be above the knee, knee length or my favorite-long and flowy. It’s not so much about sex as it is about feeling sexy. Your nightwear should be about being comfortable with who you are. You’re in the privacy of your own home. Judgment can be left at the door.
The types of nightwear have so many names, some overlapping: chemise, bias cut slip, romper, teddy, peignoir, nightgown, baby doll. There are even some really pretty 2-piece cami/short sets that can be fun to try. The point is, try something different. I’m sure you have your favorite but how great to have a little fun with your nightwear and change up from that old cotton tee and sweatpants.
The great thing about buying vintage is you can afford to try different styles, different designers and make it about you. You’re online anyway, why not check out some closets and treat yourself today.
